2008
Based around the idea of a singer performing at an art opening, this performance proposes a series of moments in a karaoke atmosphere. Between the sincere intensity of the vocal interpretation and nonchalance, I place myself in an ambiguous context with an underlying sense of simulation. When the movements of my mouth and the lyrics become desynchronised, the audience is allowed to ponder on whether or not it really is my voice they have been listening to. Who is singing? Where is the line between the real and the fake? Where does this uncontrollable singer within me come from?
This performance was presented in Reims at the Galerie de l’Ancien Collège des Jésuites in the Québec Gold exhibition.
