End of the World

The End of the World

Performance and sound device
2007

This performance revolves around the appropriation of the figure of a singer through the manipulation of elements of the mise en scène, off-field and failure. I construct a space where different states of interpretation are articulated and where the points of reference between the real and the fake (live / pre-recorded, false clumsiness, etc.) I also cast a doubt on my ability to interpret this song with justness and abandon; I attempt to see how far I can take this seduction based on a form of lie.

The music of the audio track splits progressively thus creating confusion. As the singer tries to continue interpreting her song, an annoying sound arrives and becomes louder. The racket that seems to be a nuisance to the development of the performance is actually the orchestration of accomplices moving furniture in the next room. The song ends in silence as the singer sings the last chorus without a sound escaping her mouth.
